Chapter 91 Part 1

“We HAVE to be careful,” Dante reminded the group once again.

The four were coming down from Mt. Climb. Trenton could not be seen, because it was far in the distance and there was a huge cloud of fog in its place.

“I really hope our plan works,” Logan said nervously.

“The timing has to be perfect,” Conrad whispered.

“We can do it,” Dante said, faking confidence.

The small group walked to the edge of the Delaware River. Across the bridge was Trenton, Supul Academy... and Clovervicky.

The four walked up to the Delaware bridge...

Or at least what was left of it.

“Wow,” Conrad said.

The left half of the bridge was still stable, but the entire right half was replaced by a giant bite mark. Whatever remained of the bridge was twisted up, cracks running up and down the entire structure. The left half was tilted at an incredibly dangerous angle, facing the deadly waters of the Delaware river.

In other words, there was no way to Trenton.

“This ain't good,” Logan said.

“Maria, can't you call your plane or something?” Dante asked nervously.

Maria shook her head.

“Only when I have Supul.”

“Well, there's only one way across then.”

Everyone stared at the nearly-destroyed bridge silently.

“I'll go first,” Maria broke the silence.

“Are you sure we want to cross the bridge?” Conrad asked.

“Yeah. I don't think there's any other way.”

Maria grabbed the edge of the left side of the bridge, and hoisted herself on top of it. It wasn't like the remaining half of the bridge was going to collapse under their weight, but there was so little room to move, and the cement was so fragile...

Maria started to gradually worm her way across the bridge. Conrad climbed on after her, followed by Logan. Dante was last. They had to be extremely careful. Just one slip and a couple yards...

They climbed across in silence, groping for hand and foot holds. Maria put her foot on a solid-looking chunk of cement -

Crunch!

It cracked beneath her feet, skittering down the side of the bridge and into the deadly waters just yards beneath them. Maria gasped, groping for a strong handhold -

She slid down the side of the bridge, screaming. She tried to grab something, anything. Logan Conrad and Dante yelled and shouted in the background. Suddenly, she felt nothing beneath her, and something snagged on her jacket, ripping it in half. Her hand flew up, and she barely caught the edge of the bridge.

She stopped sliding.

“Is she still there?” Dante asked shakily, almost whispering.

Maria opened her eyes. Her neck down was hanging off the side of the twisted bridge, less than a yard above the river. Her jacket, which had caught onto a sharp rock, was torn in half right down the middle. She was barely holding on to a cement chunk right on the edge of the bridge.

“Yeah! I'm here!” Maria called.

“Can you climb back up?” Logan called down to her.

There was a little bit of silence.

“Yeah. Definitely.”

Maria focused deeply. She calmly breathed in and out, like Miley had taught her. She could do this. She would make it.

With the arm that wasn't clinging on to the chunk of cement that saved her life, she felt around for a higher rock. Feeling one, she clung on to it, and hauled herself up. Gradually, she worked her way back onto the bridge completely.

“Ok. Let's go.”

There was a short moment of silence.

“Wow,” Conrad said.

After slowly and incredibly carefully inching their way across the bridge, the group arrived at Trenton. They hopped off of the bridge gratefully.

“Ok. Here we are. This is it,” Dante said.

“Everyone ready?” Maria asked.

The group nodded.

“Ok. Let's go.”

The four crossed into the city.

Everything around them was silent, besides from the distant roaring and smashing. The fog that surrounded the city obscured their vision, so that they couldn't even see five feet ahead of them.

As they traveled, Maria noticed something was wrong. Something about the whole scene just seemed so... off. Maybe it was because she was so used to seeing the streets filled with people... no, that wasn't it.

“Hey... wait a minute. This... isn't fog,” she said. Everything seemed blurier... she couldn't think clearly...

“She's right!” Logan cried. “This is Supul!”

The four could already feel the Supul changes beginning.

“RUN!” Conrad screamed.

They had to reach a Supul-free area, and fast, before they were sent into their Supul forms and couldn't control themselves.

“Where are we going?!” Dante's voice called from somewhere in the fog.

“To my plane! It has vacuum-protected walls and crap!” Maria yelled.

Just as they were getting nearer to Supul Academy, four dark figures slowly emerged through the fog, walking directly towards them.

“Oh no...,” all four humans said.

Facing them were Ashley, Vito, Alex, and George, all in their Supul forms. A hulking scorpion, Vrat, the bacon scarecrow, and deBlob.

“Get ready, guys!” Dante cried.

Vrat was the first to jump, landing directly in front of Maria. Before anyone could defend her, the other three demons had attacked.

Logan was shoved over onto the ground by an unknown force. He scrambled to his feet, and found himself face-to-face with the bacon scarecrow. It threw a punch at him, blasting him back through the air in less than a second. He had to time to react.

Conrad dodged deBlob's blubber blast, leaping through the air and rolling underneath a park bench, which was destroyed a second later. Conrad lurched out of the way.

Dante didn't know what hit him. It felt like a miniature truck had hit him in the face. He flew back, smashing into a wall.

The scorpion was on him like ugly on an ape, punching him and kicking him, almost literally tearing him apart.

There was almost no hope. The four were being relentlessly destroyed...

That's when the Supul kicked in.

Logan socked Alex right in the face, his arm alight with green flames. Alex spun around. Logan zapped him with a laser beam from his eyes. Alex soared through the air, smashing through a brick wall and into a building.

Crunch!

“Teateatea,” Conrad whispered to himself, rocking back and forth. Just as George was about to slam him into oblivion, Conrad exploded like a time bomb. George screamed in shock, his blubber being severely burned.

Ashley was pummeling Dante into dust. She raised her stinger for the final attack, and went to stab him – suddenly, Dante caught it just inches from his throat, stopping it with brute force. He completely twisted the stinger around, then kicked her in the stomach. She doubled over in pain, defeated.

Meanwhile, Vrat was just about to bite out Maria's throat. She whipped her head to the side, whacking his face with a huge amount of hair. She then leaped to her feet, and whistled for her plane.

“GUYS, COME ON!” she had just enough time to scream, before Vrat lunged at her again. She threw herself to the ground, rolling to the left and getting to her feet again in less than a second. Vrat skittered out of sight. Maria took advantage of the fog and hid.

There was still a little bit of anti-Supul sanity left in them...

Her plane flew into sight, crashing through buildings and Ashley's head to get to them. It clumsily landed in front of her.

“COME ON GUYS!!”

Maria leaped inside, followed by Logan and Conrad.

“Where's Dante?!”

He leaped into sight, flying into the plane. Logan slammed the door shut.

All 4 sighed, the Supul leaving their system. Maria started to drive down the road at top speed.

“Fly away! They're catching up!” Conrad cried, looking out the back window.

“I can't! If I do, Clovervicky might see us,” Maria said.

“Well, then DRIVE faster!” Logan screamed.

Alex leaped on the window, blocking Maria's view. She screamed as it started to scratch through the window.

The plane jolted, as though something heavy had landed on the roof. Vrat started to claw its way through the ceiling.

Crunch!!

Ashley punched the side, creating a huge dent. A shadow crossed over the windows as deBlob got closer.

“Maria! FLY!” Dante roared.

Without another thought, Maria pulled the yoke back as far as it would go. The plane started to fly straight up, almost vertical. Alex was flung off the window.

All four sighed in relief. They had escaped!

“Now all we have to do is get to Supul Academy and - “ Conrad began.

“Shh! We don't want to make any noise. Clovervicky might hear us,” Maria said.

They flew in silence. Logan, Conrad, and Dante gazed out of the windows, keeping watch.

“There she is,” Logan whispered, just above a breath.

Maria peered out the window. A gigantic mass was standing there, right in the middle of the city, less than half a mile away, taller than most buildings.

Clovervicky.

Maria, Logan, Conrad, and Dante were staring at it with such amazement that they didn't even notice what she was looking at.

“She sees us,” Dante said. The other three turned to stare at him.

“SHE SEES US! GO!” Dante screamed.

Maria grabbed the yoke, spinning it around rapidly. Clovervicky lurched forward, roaring.

The plane barely dodged her. She had jumped half a mile to reach them.

“LEFT!” Logan screamed. The plane turned so fast that the 3 toppled to the floor. Clovervicky could be seen spinning past the window, roaring furiously.

“Come on! GO!” Dante shouted.

Maria pressed the gas pedal into the floor, literally grinding a tiny piece of it off.

“HOLD ON!” she screamed, steering it straight down towards the ground. It shot straight in between Clovervicky's closing fingers.

“WHOA!”

Dante's butt crashed into the back of Maria's head. She slammed forward, painfully smashing into the dashboard, and ricocheted back, tumbling out of the seat, leaving the plane for a free-fall.

Conrad toppled over into the seat.

“WAAH!”

Not knowing what he was doing, he grabbed the yoke, pulling it all the way out. The plane turned from straight down to straight up just seconds before it crashed into the road. The tail smacked into the road, sparks flying.

Maria shoved Conrad to the floor, steadying the plane. Everyone was able to get back to their feet.

“LOOK! THERE IT IS!” Logan screamed, pointing straight ahead.

Everyone looked ahead, once again filled with hope.

There it was!!

SUPUL ACADEMY!!

Unfortunately, their view was then blocked off by the giant black monster that they had almost forgotten about, and they were brought crashing back to unfortunate reality.
