CHapter 8 - Dumpster

Conrad sprinted through the rainy streets of Trenton, heading for Logan's house. In a couple of minutes, though, he discovered that his destination no longer existed.

“WHAT HAPPENED?!” he screamed, arriving at the scorching remains of the Grace household.

“Our mother told bad people to attack us,” Lukas replied solemnly.

“Why?!”

“They were probably after all of Gubgub's secret money that we never told people about,” Shanaynay said.

“Where's Logan?!”

Levi pointed to the back alley. The whole lot of them hurried over.

“Maria?!” Conrad gasped.

“Conrad?!” Maria gasped.

“Hay,” Shanaynay said.

The three separate parties quickly exchanged their individual back stories.

“With our three stories combined, it's fairly simple to deduce that Freckles hired the Disaster Berries to attack all of the mayor campaignees who aren't Pippy Urgency – Edna Fletcher, Gubgub, and Lady Gaga, that is,” Lukas said. “With those three out of the way, the campaign is his to lose, and Freckles proves Conrad wrong over their little spat.”

“They attacked Edna by kidnapping her daughter, Sheba,” Maria said.

“They attacked Gubgub by burning all of his propaganda,” Shanaynay noted.

“And they're heading out to attack Lady Gaga as we speak,” Conrad gasped.

“Then we have no time to waste,” Levi spoke. “We must save Lady Gaga from certain destruction.”

The small party hurried off.

Conrad noticed they were hurrying past Supul Academy. Half of the building still had a giant ponytail-shaped dent in the side from where Clovervicky had hit it. Major construction was being conducted.

“Psst!” a mysterious voice whispered.

Conrad stopped in his tracks.

“Yes?” he asked.

No one replied.

“Who spoke?!” Conrad snapped. “I demand to know the truth!”

“Conrad wtf come on please we have a legacy to preserve,” Maria said impatiently.

“But I thought I heard someone contact me.” He turned around, confused. “Was it Shanaynay?”

Shanaynay shrugged.

“PSST! OVER HERE! We are the garbage!!”

Conrad turned around again. He was facing the Dumpster of Supul Academy.

“Hello,” he said.

Vicky and Sonya emerged from underneath the garbage. Conrad gasped. Lukas screamed.

“The murderers from the 5:00 news!” Levi squealed, and ran away screaming.

“Nonsense,” Sonya called after him. He stopped running.

“Our mother just went to Argentina, and suddenly we're turned into witches,” Vicky grumbled.

“Oh,” Logan said.

“We need your help,” Sonya said. “The town is hunting us! For NO reason!! You need to tell them what really happened!”

“Um - “

Just then, the townspeople came running into sight, all bearing torches of hatred.

“THERE THEY ARE!” the fearless leader screamed.

Unfortunately, it was Lady Gaga.
